Goverlay Not Detected Out of Nowhere

Postby shotbybulletz » Sun Aug 15, 2021 10:00 pm

As of yesterday, the goverlay has not been able to be recognized by my system at all. Ive been using it for over 6 months with no issues at all, and now it seems like its dead.

Things I have tried:

Installing drivers, never got a popup to "accept" driver installation.

Switching usb headers did nothing, I also know its not a problem with the headers since my corsair aio works fine through it.

Also, I just tried to manually install the driver, noticed this at the bottom:
"Updating drivers for USB\VID_20A0&PID_41ED from c:\temp\Driver\LCDsysinfo_GOverlay_2_0.inf.
devcon failed."

Ran goverlay tester, here are the results:

the tester doesnt seem to have detected any device connected to the computer.
does the screen of the device show anything? it should show "run goverlay for configuration"

It did not display anything at all, but i have since fixed this issue by jumping the pins to put it into firmware update mode and reinstalling the firmware.

Now the problem im having is the fact that this happens every 2-3 days. The screen was running problem free for over 6 months, and now i have to disassemble the entire screen just to get it working every couple of days

Its pretty simple, you just have to be comfortable taking it apart and shorting the two contacts that have an S under them and plugging it in at the same time, that should put it into firmware update mode.

The new problem is that I keep having to do this once every two weeks or I get a message like this when starting up and the lcd just shows a bunch of dots

seems like it could be an issue with the USB connection reading data from the device if it does it only sometimes, try with a different cable or usb port
