Not working after update to 1.4.2

Postby klaatu » Sun Oct 19, 2014 11:01 am

I updated to version 1.4.2, and now my LCDSysInfo for Goverlay device just stays in energy saving mode; it was working fine before. I'm running Windows 8.1 x64.

Works fine for me (also Windows 8.1 x64)
From the log it seems like GOverlay doesn't recognize your device.
Is it present on Device Manager? (libusb-win32-devices --> LCDsysinfo for GOverlay)

Can you please the GOverlay tester to see how the device is detected and post the log?

The tester complained that libusb0.dll couldn't be found, so I copied and renamed the libusb0_x86.dll file to system32 and syswow64 and libusb0.sys file to system32/drivers, and now the tester log shows this:

Copying the DLL's wont just cut it.
It seems that the issue is that your libusb driver is not correctly installed for some reason and you are using WinUSB.

As you see this part:

------------- LibUsb Driver Status ------------
LibUsb Kernel version: 0.0.0.0

------------- Related Devices Connected ------------
--> LCDsysinfo (GOverlay)
----> Service: WinUSB
------------------------------------------

Shows that the LibUSB is not working (version 0.0.0.0)
And the service using to detect LCDSysInfo is WinUSB when it should be libusb0.

Have you followed the explained procedure on the FAQ to install the drivers?

Either way the connection mode hasnt changed in this version so it should actually work if you had it working.
Try running GOverlay as administrator and make sure there is no other GOverlay instance running since WinUSB cant handle more than one connection at a time.

I had followed the instructions regarding the driver, and it was working OK right up to the point where I upgraded to 1.4.2. However, having followed the instructions again now, very carefully, it has started working again. So I can only apologise for wasting your time and thank you for your help.

No Problem!
Im glad you got it sorted out, seems like indeed it was a driver issue and for some reason 1.4.1 was more forgiving on that (which is odd because the connection method didnt change).
